My approach is rooted in the Polyvagal theory, blending together body based Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and more traditional, cognitive therapies of CBT and feminist psychodynamics. I am interested in not only getting to know your story, but your body and where it experiences safety & danger, as well as the parts of you that have been abadonned, or serve to protect those abanonned parts.
Together we will unpack core beliefs about yourself and discover where and who you learned them from. We will uncover how they have impacted your body, and other ways of thinking and feeling about yourself and the world, that come from a true self.
In my opinion, understanding the impact of oppressions such as racism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, and misogyny can help us heal parts of us that have been rejected and shamed, and bring us closer to fully loving & accepting ourselves.
If you are looking for a therapist to write a letter for gender affirmation surgery, I will bring these values into our work together to help you feel empowered and affirmed by the process.
I have specialized training and expertise in working with: gender, sexuality, LGBTQ+ identities, relationships, healing intimacy & desire, difference in desire, PTSD, interpersonal violence, sexual trauma, survivorship, body image, women empowerment, alternative spirituality, poly/non-monogamy, sex work, kink, BDSM, survivors of cults and religious trauma, childhood trauma, LGBTQ+ youth and their parents, depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and HIV/AIDS.
